What Is an Automated Swing Gate?
An automated swing gate is a motorized gate hinged at one or both posts that opens inward or outward like a door. It comes as a single leaf, a double leaf (two panels meeting in the middle), or a bi-folding gate, where each panel hinges in the middle and folds back against itself to need far less swing clearance than a standard swing gate. At Capital Gates, every swing gate is fabricated in-house to your opening and paired with an operator matched to the gate's size and weight - articulated-arm operators for a visible, serviceable motor or concealed underground motors for a clean, hidden look.
When Is a Swing Gate Necessary?
A swing gate is the right choice when there's enough clearance for the gate to swing inward or outward, when you want a more traditional, elegant look, or where the site grade rules out a sliding or cantilever gate. It's the natural fit for wider estate entrances and properties with room to spare. Where a swing gate's look is wanted but the opening arc is constrained by a short driveway, a wall, or landscaping, a bi-folding gate delivers the same aesthetic with a fraction of the swing clearance.
What Is Required for Installation?
A swing gate install needs a clear swing arc (or a bi-fold layout where clearance is tight), solid post footings engineered to carry the gate's weight and the operator load, hinge-rated operators with soft start and stop, and any required setback from the sidewalk or road. We run weatherproof electrical to the operator, add safety sensors and battery backup, and wire the access control - remotes, keypads, intercoms, or smartphone entry. As with every build, we fabricate the gate in-house and install it ourselves, so one team owns the whole system from first measurement to final test.
