What Are Custom Gates?

Custom gates are fabricated sliding and swing gates built to your property - not pulled off a shelf. Every gate we install is designed, welded, finished, and powder-coated in-house to your driveway's exact width, slope, and architecture. Whether you need a horizontal-slat steel sliding gate for a tight city lot or an ornamental double swing gate for a larger estate entrance, the build is tailored to the opening rather than forced to fit a catalogue size.

When Are Custom Gates Necessary?

A custom gate is the right choice whenever driveway security, privacy, property value, or controlled commercial yard access matter. A purpose-built gate secures the entrance, screens the property from the street, and adds curb appeal that raises value - and for commercial sites it controls vehicle and pedestrian access to the yard. Because each gate is fabricated to fit, it also handles awkward openings a stock gate can't: sloped driveways, non-standard widths, tight side clearance, or a specific architectural look.

What Is Required for a Custom Gate?

A custom gate build starts with a site assessment and accurate measurements of the opening, the available side or swing clearance, and the ground conditions. From there we confirm the material choice - typically heavy-gauge steel or aluminum, with wood or ornamental infill options - and the gate style (sliding or swing, single or double leaf). If you plan to automate now or later, we design the gate for opener compatibility from the start: correct weight and balance, rigid frame, and mounting points for the operator. We handle fabrication, finishing, delivery, and install in one coordinated build.

Sliding Gates

Sliding gates open by moving horizontally along a track instead of swinging on hinges, making them the right choice when the driveway is too narrow or sloped for a swing gate's arc, for high-traffic entries that need fast automated open/close, or where a tight fit against the property line matters. A sliding gate needs a site assessment for ground conditions and side clearance, an electrical run to the operator, a motor sized to the gate's weight, and safety sensors. We fabricate and install three categories of sliding gate:

Cantilever Sliding Gates

Self-supporting gates that don't touch the ground - the best choice for sloped, uneven, or snow-prone driveways where a ground track would be impractical. The gate is counterbalanced on a fixed track so it glides above the surface with no ground contact.

Sliding Gates on V-Groove Track

Gates that ride on a ground-mounted V-track for smooth, stable operation on flat, well-maintained surfaces. The track guides the gate precisely along its path and is ideal for level driveways with good ground conditions.

Telescopic Sliding Gates

Gates that use two or more overlapping panels that collapse into a shorter footprint, for driveways that don't have enough side clearance for a single full-width panel. Telescopic gates deliver a full-width opening with a fraction of the back-run space.

Swing Gates

Swing gates are hinged and open like a door, as a single or double leaf - the classic estate entrance, elegant and visually simple. A swing gate is the right choice when there's enough clearance for the gate to swing inward or outward, for a more traditional look, or where site grade rules out a sliding or cantilever gate. It needs a clear swing arc, solid post footings, hinge-rated operators, and any required setback from the sidewalk or road.

Bi-Folding Gates

A bi-folding gate hinges in the middle so each panel folds back against itself, needing far less swing clearance than a standard swing gate - ideal where a swing gate's look is wanted but the opening arc is constrained by a short driveway, wall, or landscaping.

Gate Repair & Maintenance

Gate Repair & Maintenance - We also service and repair existing automated gates, including gates we didn't install. Our technicians diagnose and repair motors, sensors, tracks, hinges, and control boards - whether your gate has stopped working, moves slowly or erratically, is making noise, is failing its safety sensors, or has weather or storm damage. We carry common motors, sensors, and control boards on our service vehicles and offer scheduled maintenance to keep your gate running reliably. A repair visit needs the make and model of the existing opener if known, site access, and occasionally a short lead time for replacement parts. Custom Gates FAQ

Do you fabricate gates in-house or buy pre-made gates?

Every gate we install is fabricated in-house. We weld, finish, and powder-coat each gate to your property's exact specifications - we don't sell off-the-shelf gates.

Can you automate an existing gate?

In most cases, yes. We can retrofit automation onto an existing swing or sliding gate, provided the gate is structurally sound. We'll assess your gate on site and recommend the best operator.

What access control options do you offer?

Remotes, keypads, audio and video intercoms, smartphone entry, fobs, and telephone entry systems. We'll help you choose the right combination for how you and your family or staff use the gate.

Which areas do you serve?

We serve Vancouver, the North Shore, Burnaby, Richmond, Surrey, Coquitlam, Langley, New Westminster, and the wider Lower Mainland. If you're nearby, give us a call - we likely cover your area too.
